After more than a week of debate and partisan posturing, we still don't have the SAVE Act passed. For those who might be confused about what the Act contains, it ONLY requires that a prospective voter provide proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, and that our voter rolls ONLY contain registrations for legal citizens. Most of the text is simply directions on how to modify the text of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRM93) in accordance with the SAVE Act provisions.
It does NOT require in-person voting, use of paper ballots, photo ID, or any of the other desirable provisions necessary to ensure that our elections are honest, accurate, and free from significant fraud.. Opposition to the Act raises some serious questions about our Representatives and who they represent.
Opponents of the Act make a number of objections, most of which lack merit. Some claim that it would prohibit legal citizens who simply cannot provide proof of citizenship from voting. It appears these opponents cannot read, because the Act includes provision for those who lack suitable documentation to obtain the required documentation. Is voting less important than being able to get on an airplane where ID is required?
Others object that it would eliminate millions of voters already in the rolls from voting. There is some substance to this objection. The Act would indeed eliminate thousands of dead voters, as well as the millions of non-citizens that have been illegally registered and who are listed as active voters in the rolls of every state. Clearly, any party that depends on these dead and non-citizen and other ineligible voters to win will be at a significant disadvantage.
Some seem to believe that our voter rolls only contain legal voters, After all, the NVRM93 law requires that the rolls be maintained so that no improper registrations are present, and we all know how diligent our officials are about following inconvenient laws. They seem unaware of the numerous investigations that have found millions of non-citizens and other illegal parties in our voter rolls. In my own investigations alone, I found several million likely non-citizens in the California rolls, and good investigators in other states have found similar quantities.
Once a bad registration is in the rolls, it is almost impossible to remove. As an example, to remove a registration for a non-citizen, it is necessary to provide documentary proof that the registration is for a non-citizen. Usually that means that someone has to locate the registered person and have them sign an affidavit that they are not a citizen, and then present that document to the appropriate authority.
This could be difficult if the individual has been deported, or is reluctant to sign a document that would be admission to a felony. Lacking such proof, the registration remains, and in eight states with universal vote by mail, a ballot will be sent to the registration address. No problem there! Of course, no-one would ever mark and return a ballot that didn't belong to them!
I've already written about the dangers of dirty voter rolls here and here, and how they can be used to support election fraud. The Carter-Baker commission in 2005 listed absentee voting (vote by mail) as the greatest threat to election integrity, yet every state has some provision for absentee voting, and eight states, California and Washington included, have universal vote by mail. Have we learned nothing in these last twenty years?
There are those who believe the election officials who claim that our elections are safe and secure and that we have numerous safeguards in place to ensure that no-one can tamper with our results. That and we can always trust the fox to give an accurate report on the health of the henhouse, too.
After all, we have ineffective signature checking to ensure that every mail in ballot is signed by someone—sometimes even by the actual voter. And of course, we use paper ballots to record the votes—never mind that all the counting is done from ballot images that can be altered or duplicated by the millions.
If all else fails, our election systems are air-gapped so that no one can access them from the internet to alter results. My cellphone is air-gapped too, and it accesses the internet just fine, thank you.
Speaking of the internet, we have Albert Sensors to monitor unauthorized access to our election systems. In order for the Albert Sensors to work, though, they must be connected to the election networks and to the internet. These are secure connections, we are told, so we can rest assured that our officials are protecting us. Really! Trust us! We're from the government and always know what we're doing and always obey the law.
No internet connection is secure if there is enough incentive to hack it. Is control of our country through fraudulent elections sufficient incentive? Our enemies both foreign and domestic have had years to figure out how to compromise our election systems. The only way to prevent hacking is to go back to the methods that can't be hacked.
Pay no attention to recent reports that China, probably among others, was able to get copies of state voter rolls and use them to produce counterfeit driver's licenses, and probably voter registrations. .Even our own DoJ is blocked from getting copies of voter rolls from almost half the states, Perhaps they should ask the Chinese for help.
Clearly, some opponents of the Act think that it is just another MAGA attempt to subvert the efforts of Democrats to regain power and put the country back on the track to Socialism—you know that perfect form of government that would work if only it were done exactly right ... and if we were all social insects.
Since we have no effective way to correct an election where the outcome was determined by fraud and not by the legitimate will of the voters, there are those who feel that if we can only hold off election reform until after the midterms, those elections can be manipulated to ensure the correct people are put in charge and we can get rid of Trump and all this MAGA nonsense. All those citizen sheep can be put back on the plantation where they can provide the taxes to support all those important social programs the US needs to fund across the world. Tax the whites! If the elite weren't elite, they wouldn't be the elite. Elections are too important to be left to ordinary citizens.
This brings us back to our representatives in Congress, specifically those who oppose the SAVE Act. How many of them fear they would not be reelected if the SAVE Act were to pass? How many believe that Democrats and Progressives would never get elected if elections were honest?
The SAVE Act is just the first step in making our elections honest again. It is a vital one, but more will be needed, including single day voting, requiring a photo ID to vote, and eliminating use of ballot images. Our representatives can make all these things happen. It is up to us to remind them that they represent US, and not special interests, or a Party, or big donors, or anyone or anything else other than their constituents. They need to act NOW, and not after the primaries or the midterms. We cannot afford another election where fraud is the largest voter.
Over 90% of voters want measures to ensure the honesty of our elections. It is time to call or email our representatives to encourage those who support election integrity, and to demand that those who oppose it to start acting like the representatives they were elected to be. Our country is never more than one election away from tyranny. Honest elections are our best defense.
