Stamp duty could be replaced by a new property tax on homes valued over £500,000, as per reports. The Treasury is reportedly considering the idea that would alter our perception of buying and selling properties.

Under the proposed system, homeowners would pay the tax when they sell their property. The amount due would depend on the property's value, with the rate determined by the Government.
