Fears grow that council flats set for demolition will be replaced 'with something worse'

Plans to rebuild Hanover Court and Princess Court have sparked disputes over parking, design, and the number of council homes. A planning application could be submitted by the end of this month outlining plans to demolish and replace two 1960s blocks of flats in Cambridge.

Hanover Court and Princess Court, described as being in a "really poor state of condition", were marked for redevelopment by Cambridge City Council.

During a developer briefing on Thursday (August 14), councillors were informed that there is currently a waking watch in place at the blocks of flats due to the lack of compartmentalisation meeting fire safety standards.
