20.01.2026

Enduring another round of water restrictions certainly compounded the frustration for Calgarians, but the report from the city’s independent panel has done a great service by laying out the two decades of failures that brought us to this point.

The scathing report cries out for accountability, and the lack of action on that front may soon become another major source of frustration.

The Alberta government clearly senses a political opportunity amid all of this. There’s the obvious lure of latching onto an issue that is front and centre for voters in Calgary, and focusing on another government’s failings rather than their own.
