To hear the Alberta separatists, you’d think they’re locked in talks with the U.S. for money, formal backing for independence or even becoming the 51st state.

They say they meet high-level people, arrange a line of credit, visit Mar-a-Lago.

They cheer when Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says Canada should join the U.S.

But not much is happening on the ground in Washington, D.C.

Nathan Cooper, Alberta’s senior representative to the United States, says Alberta Prosperity Project leader Jeffrey Rath “has had no contact with myself or the U.S. office, and I have no knowledge or insight into any of their alleged meetings that they may or may not have had.”
