Trump’s $400 Million Ballroom Is an Affordability Fumble
Tearing down a wing of the White House and building a massive ballroom paid for by billionaires and corporate donors could not have been on any voter’s wishlist for President Donald Trump’s second term. And yet, here we are.
Rather than solve the most pressing economic issues, Trump has provided a solution to a problem that didn’t exist and, worse still, has nothing to do with bettering people’s lives. The ballroom — as well as the new Liberace-esque White House interior — highlights Trump’s excesses and the absence of his promised golden era for average voters. Democrats would be smart to exploit this gap, which fits neatly into their affordability message and comes with plenty of visuals.
