One wonders why there is somuch of hue and cry in a section of the international community over the refusal of the Donald J. Trump administration to stick to the phrase “Russian aggression” in a recent G7 statement!

Knowledgeable sources say the G-7 nations did describe Russia as an aggressor every February 24, the day Russia’s full-scale invasion started in Ukraine three years ago. The 2024 the G7 leaders’ statement said: “We call on Russia to immediately cease its war of aggression and completely and unconditionally withdraw its military forces from the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.” It would, however, be historically inaccurate to brand Russia an aggressor in the case.
