Parents today are faced with the unique challenge of balancing their children's desire for smartphones and tablets with the need to limit their exposure to technology. The familiar cries for 'tech time' or the eerie silence that descends when a child disappears into their room with a device is something many parents can relate to.

Leading addiction therapist, Mandy Saligari, has previously issued stark warnings about the dangers of excessive screen time for children, according to the Mirror. She likened giving a child electronic devices to "giving them a bottle of wine or a gram of coke."

Emphasising the seriousness of the issue, she stated: "I always say to people, when you're giving your kid a tablet or a phone, you're really giving them a bottle of wine or a gram of coke.
