Registered pension plan sponsors reporting increased membership: Stats Can
The number of Canadians who are active members of a registered pension plan continues to grow, according to a new report by Statistics Canada.
It found from 2023 to 2024, there was a 1.9 per cent increase to nearly 7.4 million plan members. During that period, membership increased faster among women (2.7 per cent) than among men (0.9 per cent). Women accounted for 51.8 per cent of all active members in 2024.
Membership grew in all provinces and territories in 2024. In absolute terms, the largest increase in the number of plan members was in Ontario (37,800), followed by Quebec (29,500), British Columbia (21,500) and Manitoba (11,700).
