PAPER TRAILS: North Little Rock aviation group rebuilding World War II-era aircraft

On Oct. 12, 1942, as World War II raged on, student pilots began training at the Walnut Ridge Army Flying School. More than 5,300 aspiring airmen learned how to fly above the farmlands of northeast Arkansas in the BT-13 Valiant, a basic training plane built by Vultee Aircraft.

Now, a vintage BT-13 is in the process of being restored by a North Little Rock aviation group.

The Razorback Wing, which is a unit of the Dallas nonprofit Commemorative Air Force, is working to bring a 1941 BT-13 back to its original flight-ready status. The volunteer group based at North Little Rock........
