OPINION | GWEN FORD FAULKENBERRY:
Democrat-Gazette online
Christmas is my favorite holiday. But Brother says his is Thanksgiving, because it is like Christmas without all the busyness, expense, and stress. Which I have to admit makes a lot of sense, as Brother often does.
My mom sent out a text last night to the FFF Fam, which is our family text thread, asking for everyone's thoughts about Thanksgiving dinner. It is kinda funny, because she does this every year, and every year we all get into an uproar about it, tossing around recipes and ideas, and then we all pretty much bring the same stuff we brought last year and have been bringing for all the years.
And if anyone tries to rebel and not bring their traditional dishes, they are beaten and dragged back into submission, although allowed to bring other contributions in addition to their usuals. But traditions must be kept.
It may surprise readers to know it is my mother who most often rebels, or at least tries to. She will say things like, "I don't think I am going to make the dressing anymore ... Last year it wasn't as good as usual ... I am getting too........
