Brutal, beautiful animation traces an African teen’s journey to Italy

In The Meatseller, a young woman named Selinna Ajamikoko shares her harrowing, years-long migration from her home country of Nigeria to Italy, which she began aged just 15. Directed by the Italian animator Margherita Giusti, who met Ajamikoko in Rome through an organisation that supports asylum seekers and refugees, and produced by the acclaimed Italian director Luca Guadagnino, the film traces a path from Ajamikoko’s childhood desire to follow in her mother’s trade........
