Mark Carney would like nothing better than to make this election all about Trump. That way we don’t get to question his policies or his record. He skates in on a public relations campaign that claims his experience would allow him to “handle Donald Trump!” Good luck, Mark. You would be first.

Trump will do what Trump will do. No amount of business experience will impress him, and he probably has more contempt for former bureaucrats than the average person. If that were not true, he wouldn’t be promoting Elon Musk’s efforts to overcome the bureaucratic nightmare  south of the border, just as it has here.

So yes, we have to deal with the tariff threats. Tariffs are not the end of Canada, nor is this the first time we have faced this kind of action. We will get through this.

Meanwhile, we have a country to run, and we need to know where those who would like to form government stand on very important issues. The economy is front and centre. If we don’t get a grip and start acting like a secure and sophisticated nation, we stand to lose, no matter who forms the next government.
