Massive wind farm plan backed if 'it means Wales can be independent'

Wales Online readers have been engaging in lively debates about the proposed large-scale wind farm development in Wales, expressing a mix of excitement and doubt over the role of renewable energy in the region.

The blueprint for vast floating wind farms off the Welsh coast has advanced. Last year saw the launch of a bidding process for three seabed areas off Wales and south west England.

The Crown Estate, which oversees the seabed around England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, is spearheading the process. This will grant rights for three new floating wind farms in the Celtic Sea, capable of generating enough renewable energy to power over four million homes.

Bidders have now put forward their plans for the development of these new wind farms, along with proposals for job creation and economic rejuvenation. The successful candidates will now progress to the final stage - an auction.

Lease agreements are set to be signed this summer.

According to The Crown Estate, the trio of wind farms could generate more than 5,000 jobs. The........
