As a believer in peace and the rights of people to live as they are, it’s appalling that he can’t see the crime that his beloved country is wreaking upon its neighbour.

But almost as appalling is Ovechkin’s cowardice in speaking about what he’s chosen to stand for.

He wants us to believe he’s a stooge, a patsy, just a passenger in what the Russian government is doing. He has no agency, he claims.
