Canadian patriotism has had its ups and downs in the past few years. First there was COVID, when the use of the flag by the anti-government truck convoy and its supporters changed how the Maple Leaf was viewed. Then there was a concern that celebrations of Canadian symbols and institutions represented a celebration of colonization.
