For months, you and others have used the word "genocide" to describe what's happened in Gaza — not as a legal conclusion reached through evidence and process, but as settled, obvious fact, repeated with total confidence to millions of listeners. This week, the Gaza Health Ministry itself — the same Hamas-run body that has supplied you the death toll numbers driving that narrative from the beginning — released something it hadn't released before: a full breakdown of 2025 mortality, separating violent deaths from natural ones for the first time since the war began.

Look at what's actually in it.

Of 24,650 total deaths recorded in Gaza in 2025, 5,780 were non-violent — roughly the same non-violent death rate Gaza saw before the war even started, with a similar age distribution to 2022. That's not what population collapse looks like. Meanwhile, births in Gaza are now running around 6,000 a month, which means roughly 12 times more births than total deaths, violent and non-violent combined.........
