What Makes a Byrna a Serious Defense Tool
When it comes to personal protection, I don't believe there's one tool that's right for every person or every situation. A gun might be the best choice when you're facing an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm, but not every dangerous encounter rises to that level. Pepper spray, knives, and handheld electronic devices can be effective, but their limited range has some obvious drawbacks.
That's the space where Byrna's less-lethal launchers can make a lot of sense.
Take the Byrna SD, the company's flagship launcher. It's roughly the size of a compact handgun, but instead of firing bullets, it uses compressed CO2 to launch .68-caliber projectiles. Depending on what you load into it, those can be solid kinetic rounds or projectiles containing chemical irritants. Byrna rates the SD at 280 feet per second, with up to 22 shots available from a single CO2 cylinder.
One feature I particularly like is Byrna's first-shot pull-pierce system.........
