Commentary: Ensure New Yorkers' access to accurate reproductive health information

What if the reproductive health information resources your physician provides suddenly became unreliable — or worse, nonexistent?
Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, reproductive health misinformation has surged, fueling what experts call an “abortion infodemic.” Medical professionals and trainees once trusted referring patients to reputable national resources, but many are disappearing. Just days into the new administration, key resources like ReproductiveRights.gov were taken down, raising concerns about access to accurate reproductive health information.

New York has long championed reproductive rights, passing key legislation such as the Reproductive Health Act and Proposition One, a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights. However, these policies are ineffective if residents are unaware of them. Without a centralized, state-run hub, patients and providers are left scrambling for information.
