Journalists Bill Moyers and Helen Thomas are displayed side by side in “Americans Who Tell the Truth,” an exhibit at the Albany Institute of History & Art through July 20. The portraits serve as a counterweight to the age of disinformation.

A total of 42 portraits of courageous citizen-activists by Maine artist Robert Shetterly in his series “Americans Who Tell the Truth” fill galleries at the Albany Institute of History & Art.

A portrait of singer and environmental activist Pete Seeger is next to a portrait of investigative reporter Jane Mayer at the entrance to “Americans Who Tell the Truth,” 42 portraits by Maine artist Robert Shetterly organized by curator Diane Shewchuk at the Albany Institute of History & Art.

A display in the gift shop at the Albany Institute of History & Art contains books by some of the activists featured in the portraits.
