Sydney Bard of Boston Fleet skates against the Toronto Sceptres during the second period at Tsongas Center on January 22, 2025 in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Bard was named to the U.S. Women's National Team for this week’s Rivalry Series against the Canadian National Team. It’s her first call-up to represent Team USA at the highest level of international competition after playing for the U.S. Collegiate Select Team and earning a gold medal at the 2018 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship.
“It’s awesome to reconnect with some old friends and people who I've played with before. Coming from the PWHL, you're facing all these girls every day in and day out as opponents, but now to be teammates is a really cool experience,” Bard said in a phone interview after Team USA’s first practice with the full squad on Tuesday. “We're so excited for the two games and to try to level the score with Canada and win the Rivalry.”
