Commentary: Republicans in Washington should seize this chance to pass election integrity laws

The U.S. Constitution allows state legislatures to determine the “Times, Places and Manner” of holding elections for Congress. However, the Constitution goes on to give Congress the ability to alter and supersede the actions of the state legislatures over congressional elections.
With control of both houses of Congress and the presidency, Republicans in Washington have the opportunity to use Congress’ constitutional authority to enact meaningful election integrity laws — laws that are unlikely to be enacted by the country’s “bluest” states anytime soon.
