LeBrun: Tough road ahead for Hochul

Gov. Kathy Hochul is on the ropes.

Realistically, she may have until the end of this legislative session, roughly three months, to turn around a mystifying, yet consistent and striking, lack of popularity even among the majority of Democrats in this blue state. It is what it is and has been since she took office as the accidental governor.

It pains me to say, as someone who had high hopes for her, but Hochul just never connected with the broad New York public. Ultimately, this is the kiss of death in politics. We are about to reach "ultimately."

The odds of her success in this 11th hour are way up there against her and climbing daily. Because the issues on the table, the times we live in and the buffoons who are about to rule us are all malignant to her cause, her electability is more apt to get worse than better.

The latest Siena poll of New York registered voters sealed the deal. Hochul’s numbers remain under water. She showed a negative 39% to 47% favorability rating and a job approval rating of a negative 44% to 48%. Since she took office, her........
