Watching the news over the last few days, and today reading through the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” a deep sense of loneliness came over me. I was reminded of Gilbert O’Sullivan’s 1971 song Alone Again (Naturally). 

Not long ago, on October 8, 2023, I felt much the same.

What is happening with Mr. Trump? Have the markets, oil prices, and the upcoming midterm elections blurred his view of reality? Is he truly placing his faith in the Iranian regime and expecting it to honor a deal?

According to the memorandum, billions of dollars currently frozen in U.S. accounts would be released to Iran, despite decades of evidence........
