For those of you who claim the reason you do not support the war the United States and Israel are waging against Iran, is because President Trump has not explained what The U.S. and Israel are doing there. Well, permit me to enlighten you as to why the forces of good are battling the forces of evil, with a series of rhetorical questions.

Do you not know or care that Iran murdered over a thousand Americans since 1979 and took American hostages during the 1979–1981 Iran Hostage Crisis, where 52 American diplomats and citizens were held captive in Tehran for 444 days. The Islamist terror regime, and their mullahs have been quite explicit about the fact that they are waging a religious war against both the “great Satan” of the United States and the “little Satan” of Israel for 47 years. Also, Iran is now allied to China and Russia, both enemies of the United States. But to Israel-bashers, it is simply another Jewish plot.

Do you not know or care that when the Iranians shout Death to America and Death to Israel they are talking about you. Those scapegoating Israel, and by extension, its Jewish supporters are repeating traditional antisemitic tropes about Jews, accusing them of dual loyalty, buying political power, and exercising other clandestine influences. And those in the Democrat Party and the media who have carelessly accused Israel of committing “genocide” against Palestinian Arabs in the Gaza Strip or is an “apartheid” state, have fueled a surge of antisemitism around the globe.

Do you not know or care that if Iran gets a nuclear weapon, it will be used against Israel to exterminate the population as Iran promised. And America will inevitably be Iran’s next victim. Iran’s leaders have explicitly said they consider a genocidal effort to destroy the Jewish state—calling it a “one-bomb country”—would be worth it, even if it meant catastrophic retaliation from Jerusalem or other parts of the world. Of course, for the anti-Semites on both the left and the right it would be more than worth it.

Do you not know or care that Iranian women in Iran are subjected to female genital mutilation, forced to wear a hijab, restricted on travel, employment, and marriage without male permission, and unequal inheritance and legal testimony rights. Also, they cannot freely choose where to live, easily obtain a passport, or access protection against domestic violence.

Do you not know or care that it is the same Iranian government that throws gays off the roof and unceremoniously hangs them in the public square and recently murdered over 35,000 of its citizens in cold blood for the sin of peacefully demonstrating.

I get it that part of the ‘resistance’ wing of the Democrat Party, which today includes the head, body, and tail, reflexively opposes anything Trump proposes. The far-left base hopes that if the war hits snags, it will turn the public against continuing it and thus give the Democrats something other than we hate Trump, as their primary policy position in November.

However, do you not know or care, despite the widening political chasm between left and right that, as a civilized society with a still intact moral compass, it is our responsibility to confront evil wherever it rears its grotesque head. And that indifference to wickedness is a dangerous moral failure more harmful than any real or perceived differences or personal hatreds because silence in the face of evil makes us all complicit in it.
