Remembering Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks with the Release of the Koren Sacks Humash
There are certain people that you cross paths with in life that leave an indelible impression that lasts a lifetime, in which I was very fortunate to have had the honor of meeting the late Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks of Blessed Memory on multiple occasions. The first time I met Rabbi Sacks was when he gave a historic lecture at Yeshiva University (where I am a proud Alumnus of) in 2010, in which I spent the weekend with both the Chief Rabbi and Rabbi Doctor Norman Lamm of Blessed Memory. A few years later, I would see Rabbi Sacks in England and on Multiple occasions in NYC when he served as the Ingeborg and Ira Rennert Global Distinguished Professor of Judaic Thought at New York University and as the Kressel and Ephrat Family University Professor of Jewish Thought at Yeshiva University.
Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks was an English Orthodox Rabbi, philosopher, theologian, and author who served as the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth from 1991 to 2013. As the spiritual head of the United Synagogue, the largest synagogue body in the United Kingdom, he was the Chief Rabbi of those Orthodox synagogues and (as Chief Rabbi), he formally carried the title of Av Beit Din (head) of the London Beth Din.
