What does Jewish resilience look like today?

For one generation, it meant marching in rallies. For another, it meant building institutions. Today, it can also look like a young woman wearing a Star of David while filming funny videos for millions of followers.

When I sat down with Julia Ain, I expected to discuss social media. Instead, we explored identity, resilience, Jewish joy and what it means to be visibly Jewish online.

Across platforms, Ain reaches more than 1.4 million followers—414,000 on Instagram, 462,000 on Snapchat, 382,500 on TikTok, 115,400 on X, 27,000 on Facebook and thousands more on YouTube. That reach gives her something few organizations possess: the opportunity to shape how millions of people see Jewish life.
