And you thought dumb NYC Bin idea couldn’t get any dumber | Opinion

It was dumb idea from the beginning and now the whole thing is falling to pieces.

To combat a city “rat problem” that didn’t appear to be much of a problem to many of us, former Mayor Eric Adams decreed that New Yorkers must buy city-approved, standardized trash cans.

The so-called NYC Bins, we were told, would keep the rats at bay.

But New Yorkers didn’t and don’t need standardized trash cans.

What we need is a punishing wave of enforcement to make sure that city residents put their trash out in some kind of receptacle.

It makes perfect sense to compel homeowners and landlords to place their trash in covered bins when putting the garbage out at the curb for pickup.

Piles of white kitchen garbage bags and black contractor bags in front of homes or on........
