This is an editorial opinion piece which was recently published in The Oxford Times, sister paper of the Oxford Mail.

People in Oxford aren't afraid of making their voices heard.

Contentious decisions are always met with public scrutiny, petitions and even protests.

Over the last few months we've seen several protests over a range of issues.

Earlier this month we saw farmers and tractors flock to the city centre ahead of the Oxford Farming Conference to voice their displeasure to Environment Secretary Steve Reed over the controversial Family Farm Tax.

Towards the end of last year, people took to the streets to protest against the Home Secretary Yvette Cooper decision to reopen Campsfield House.

Angry householders have also come together recently to oppose the decision to build homes on Bertie Park........
