So Stacey Solomon didn’t win a Bafta? She should thank her lucky stars

This is an opinion piece written by Brian Beacom.

Stacey Solomon didn’t win a Bafta this week for her BBC TV show Sort Your Life out. And I have to say that I’m glad.

And it’s not simply because the presenter’s natural cheerful giddiness so quickly surrendered to a far from graceful berating of the judges on social media.

Before explaining, don’t assume I don’t like Solomon.

Since her first X Factor appearance in 2009, the then-singer has emerged as a likeable, relatable presenter who wears a heart on every sleeve of the hundreds of fluffy, expensive jumpers contained in her colour-coordinated wardrobes.

Her BBC1 husband and wife reality show Stacey and Joe, suggests that Solomon has the patience of Job and the wisdom of, well, Solomon.

We watch in wonder as she somehow manages a two-show TV career and the lives of her five children – six if you include little Joe – because he’s a manchild.

Yes, Swash is warm and funny but unable, apparently to tell time and keep appointments and is clueless when it comes to picking up basic washing machine instructions, towels from a bathroom floor or very obvious hints he may be out bang out of order.

Meanwhile, Solomon laughs a lot and remains so organised and tidy she makes Mary Poppins look like a first year Arts student who’s parents employ a cleaner.

But this week the presenter........
