Drone footage shows progress at Darlington station as final footbridge link installed
Drone pictures show the progress that has been made at Darlington Railway Station as the final sections of the new footbridge have been installed.
The new footbridge, connecting the historic Victorian station with the new eastern entrance and platforms, is part of the ongoing £140m redevelopment project of Darlington Railway Station.
Successfully installed by Network Rail contractor BAM, the footbridge links the existing station with the new platforms, five and six, as well as the eastern concourse building, with all four structural steel sections now in place. The final components were recently installed following the first two major sections that were fitted in February.
When complete, the footbridge will improve passenger experience at the station, providing better access between platforms and to the new facilities being built.
The installation of platforms five and six will allow Network Rail teams to better manage the flow of trains, which in turn will improve performance and enable capacity for more services in the future.
