The M110 self-propelled howitzer has been in service around the world since the early 1960s, but remains as deadly today as when it was first introduced.
In early April, the Ukrainian 52nd Separate Artillery Brigade received an unusual new weapons system—one that was new for the unit, but quite old in age. The M110 203mm self-propelled howitzer, now in active service on the battlefield in Ukraine, first entered service more than 60 years earlier, when the war in Vietnam was in its infancy.
Despite the artillery gun’s advanced age, it is already having an effect on the battlefield, lobbing giant 200-pound munitions against Russian high-value targets.
