One Year After Maarka-e-Haq!
One year after Maarka-e-Haq, the regional playground looks remarkably different. What initially appeared to be another dangerous phase in the long history of Indo-Pak confrontation gradually evolved into something much larger: a strategic turning point for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. While the immediate focus remained on military planning and operational success, the deeper consequences emerged in diplomacy, economics, regional partnerships and, above all, global relevance. This transformation becomes even more significant when viewed against Pakistan’s internal and external challenges. Over the years, the country has faced mounting economic pressures, political polarisation, inflation, governance issues, and a persistent security threat from TTP operating from Afghan territory. Simultaneously, Pakistan continued to confront Indian aggression along multiple fronts, including Indian-sponsored proxy networks operating in Balochistan through groups such as the BLA, BLF and BYC.
Under ordinary circumstances, such overlapping crises could have pushed any state further into instability and international isolation. Yet Pakistan managed to do something unexpected: it converted pressure into strategic space.
