The other day, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey signed a tripartite Mutual Defence Pact in the holy city of Makkah, describing it as a big milestone, manifesting a deep understanding among the important Muslim countries of the greater Middle East — already being ravaged by a brutal war since February 28, 2026, imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran by the USA and Israel. It has endangered the security of the Gulf States which have been hosting the USA military bases. Iran has been attacking the USA’s military assets in these countries, creating an atmosphere of intense security threat.

Iran has also audaciously announced that it would attack energy and other civilian infrastructure, including water desalination plants, in these states if the USA went ahead with its repeated threats of destroying Iran’s energy and communication infrastructure. The purpose of Iran, quite obviously, is to expand the gamut of its attacks to these USA allies to generate enough pressure on the latter for a deal on its terms. Iran’s policy is to keep the pot boiling but not let it boil over. This steady policy has been creating the required pressure on the USA, significantly deterring President Donald Trump from implementing his threats of destroying Iran’s energy and communication infrastructure.
