Why more New York state schools should embrace electric buses

School districts across New York state are transforming student transportation by planning for and adopting zero-emission electric school buses.

Today, more than 100 electric school buses are operating in districts statewide, including Johnson City school district in Broome County. These new, emission-free buses are operating efficiently in all kinds of weather, including the recent cold stretch, while covering hilly terrains, city landscapes and rural areas — all while keeping our children safe. The batteries that power electric buses are extensively tested and equipped with the latest safety technologies and mechanisms.
