As state lawmakers officially return to Albany today for the start of the new legislation, the should be focusing their attention and time on one place — the door.
The door through which thousands of residents and businesses are leaving for other states as they seek to escape New York’s high taxes, high cost of living, high housing costs and burdensome regulations in order to live where it’s cheaper to work, raise families and retire.
The annual United Van Lines National Movers study released last week emphasized the trend that’s been taking place for years.
In the latest study, New York ranked third in the nation behind New Jersey and Illinois on the list of “Most Moved Out” states.
