EDITORIAL: Adapt your driving habits for big changes in state points system

If you’re a good driver with a fairly clean record, you’ll want to keep up the good work.

But if you’re one of those drivers who speeds up at yellow lights, pushes your speedometer up just to the point where you think the cops won’t ticket you, drives a little too fast through construction zones or even drives with a brake light out, you’ve got about two months to clean up your act.

That’s because a bunch of new changes are coming in February that will significantly reduce the state’s tolerance for bad driving by significantly altering the state Department of Motor Vehicles system that assigns “points” to various driving violations

Don’t wait until February to get your act together.

According to NY Ticket Defenders the changes are divided into categories:
