(NewsNation) — President Trump has announced a plan to temporarily lift tariffs on some imported beef to lower prices, but will it work?
Trump’s plan will temporarily suspend ground beef levies, allowing up to 300,000 metric tons of ground beef to be imported at a discount for 90 days. The imports will be sold at 25 percent below market rate, according to the president’s proclamation.
Cattle ranchers have pushed back against the plan, which they say hurts American beef producers. The White House has said it will help bring down costs for consumers.
The plan comes as affordability remains a top issue for voters in the lead-up........
