Is recalled Argentine beef connected to Trump’s beef import plan?

(NewsNation) — Was a recall for nearly 30,000 pounds of raw Argentine beef related to President Trump’s plan to import more beef?

In an effort to bring down beef prices, Trump suspended some tariffs in order to import 300,000 metric tons of ground beef from foreign sources.

The move has been opposed by cattle ranchers and led to rumors about the source of the meat.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a Class I recall for the beef, which was distributed in Texas and Florida, after the shipments bypassed mandatory import reinspection.

The 29,628 pounds of raw, boneless beef were imported by Corte Argentino USA LLC and distributed to retailers and food service operators.
