Shelley Moore Capito easily wins West Virginia GOP Senate primary
Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) was projected to win the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in West Virginia, according to Decision Desk HQ, setting the stage for her reelection this fall.
The first-term senator easily defeated a crowded primary field, getting 66.5 percent of the vote, with her top competitor, state Sen. Tom Willis (R), getting 18.9 percent, with more than 95 percent of the vote reporting. All other candidates garnered less than 5 percent of the vote share.
