Vanilla Ice speaks out about ‘Great American State Fair,’ says he would perform for Biden, Putin too

(NEXSTAR) – At least one of the musical acts that was scheduled to perform at Freedom 250’s “Great American State Fair” says his decision to take part in the event is not influenced by politics.

“I’m not gonna get dragged into that,” Vanilla Ice told TMZ on Friday evening, after several fellow performers — who were announced for the event by Freedom 250 — either denied being involved or announced they would not be participating.

“I’m here to party with America, man,” he continued. “Music is made to bring people together, and that’s what we’re here to do, man. We’re just gonna represent the ’90s. I don’t take anything too serious. I don’t think anybody else should. I think we should just dance, you know? It’s life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and, you gotta get out and pursue it. With dance.”

Vanilla Ice, who was born Robert Van Winkle, told the outlet he didn’t believe the event should be politicized, adding that he would have performed under Biden if he had asked — or even Putin.

I don’t even vote, so I don’t even care,” the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper said. “And if Biden called up … and he said, ‘My daughter’s getting married, we need Vanilla Ice,’ I’d go play. It’s not a big thing. You play for your fans. You know? …  And, I’ll go play for Putin and I’ll play in Iran, if you........
