Most artists announced for ‘Great American State Fair’ have backed out. Who is still playing?
(NEXSTAR) – More than half of the musical acts that were announced to perform during the “Great American State Fair” have already pulled out of the concert series, with some citing concerns over what they believe to be a partisan or politically charged event.
Freedom 250, a President Donald Trump-backed organization tasked with helping to plan semiquincentennial celebrations, had only this week announced the performers as part of the “first wave” of entertainers and speakers appearing at its Great American State Fair. The fair, which will take place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is being held between June 25 and July 10.
“The Great American State Fair will feature mainstage performances by legendary artists every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night,” Freedom 250 announced in a Wednesday press release.

“Contrary To Rumor, Morris Day & The Time Will Not Be Performing At The ‘GREAT AMERICAN STATE FAIR,’” a message posted to the group’s official Facebook page announced.
“Bust a Move” rapper Young MC also said Wednesday that he told his agents that he would not perform, claiming the artists were “never told about and political involvement with the event.”
“I hope to perform........
