Trump storms out of interview after getting pressed on his baseless claims 

There’s a difference between making a claim and proving a claim. President Trump found that out when he sat down with “Meet the Press” for what turned into a tense exchange with moderator Kristen Welker.   

Welker asked questions about the Justice Department’s proposed $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund, following arguments from Trump that allies who were targeted by what he views as politically motivated investigations deserve compensation. That’s despite the Justice Department telling a court the fund itself is “not going forward.” That doesn’t necessarily prevent future payouts through other means, but it does raise questions about how such compensation would be determined and who would qualify.  

WELKER: “Do you think anyone who attacked police officers on January 6th should get taxpayer money?”  

TRUMP: “I wouldn’t be inclined to say so, but I have to see it, can tell you this: 97 percent of those people, you look at them, the FBI or whoever it was, ’cause you had a lot of crooked cops, you had dirty cops. Comey was a dirty cop. A guy like Bolton was a dirty cop.”  

WELKER: “But there is no evidence that people who—”  

TRUMP: “Wait a minute, you think Comey was a straight cop?”  

WELKER: “We had 170 people who pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers.”  

TRUMP: “Comey was a dirty cop.”  

The conversation continued….  

TRUMP: “Listen to me, they had FBI agents ushering them into the........
