Johnson: ‘I would not put too much stock’ in ‘details’ of Trump’s Kharg Island threat 

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said that he would “not put too much stock” in President Trump’s Thursday morning threat to seize control of Kharg Island in response to the downing of an Army helicopter this week.

“I think he’s communicating directly with our adversaries over there. I would not put too much stock in the details of that right now,” Johnson said when asked by CNN’s Manu Raju about Trump’s statement.

Trump said in a Thursday morning Truth Social post that the U.S. would be hitting Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT,” and said that the U.S. would be “taking Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure points” in the “not too distant future.”
