Iowa’s Hinson leans into Trump alliance, pushes congressional trading ban in Senate campaign

ATLANTA — Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson (Iowa) has become one of the more talked-about political figures in Iowa, where she’s a favorite in the state’s GOP primary on June 2.

Hinson launched her Senate campaign after Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) announced she would not seek reelection, and she’s drawn big endorsements.

The former journalist, who represents Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, positions herself as one of President Trump’s top allies and boasts an “America First” agenda. She supports strong borders, tax cuts and conservative cultural issues.

Trump has praised Hinson’s work in Congress and backed her Senate bid. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has also expressed support, pushing Republican confidence that the Senate can keep GOP control.

Hinson sat down with “Raising America” to discuss the race.

“I am very pleased to have those endorsements, but I still go out and earn every single vote,” she said. “That’s how I’ve always done it. I always run like I’m 10 points behind. And then I go out and I listen to Iowans.”
