Israel, Iran attack each other for first time since ceasefire
Israel and Iran traded attacks on Monday for the first time since a fragile ceasefire agreement was struck in April, sparking concerns of a resumed conflict in the Middle East.
Israel said it struck petrochemical facilities in Mahshahr that produce “unique materials that serve as critical components for the development of ballistic missiles.”
Israeli forces also targeted Iran-backed Hezbollah with attacks in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Iran said two of Israel’s military bases were targeted in retaliation.
“Should these acts of aggression be repeated, the responses will be broader in scope and will encompass all American and Zionist targets throughout the region,” Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said in a statement.
