Iran dismisses reports US could use its assets to compensate allies
Iran on Sunday rejected reports claiming the U.S. could use some of Tehran’s assets to compensate regional allies for war damages.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said in a post on X that Iran’s neighbors were “not in a position to demand reparations” and Tehran’s assets were “neither war spoils for Washington nor a payment fund for its allies.”
Instead, he doubled down on Tehran’s push for war reparations in the midst of ongoing ceasefire negotiations with Washington.
“Iran will not let the aggressors off the hook and will demand and obtain reparations for the damages of war,” the deputy foreign minister wrote.
