(NewsNation) — Walmart says its $2.9 billion tariff refund is going toward lowering prices for shoppers.
The retailer said Thursday it delivered more than 11,000 rollbacks — temporary price cuts — across its U.S. business in the second quarter, up from 7,200 in the first quarter.
“We’re investing heavily in price because customers need us to and because we believe it drives market share gains over time,” Walmart CEO John Furner said during the company’s earnings call.
John David Rainey, the retailer’s chief financial officer, said the company has received “substantially all” of the $2.9 billion in tariff refunds it was eligible for and is directing the money toward “customer........
