America’s 10 hottest ZIP codes in 2026

(NewsNation) — Homebuyers are scarce across much of the country, but pockets of the Northeast and Midwest are notable exceptions.

All 10 of the nation’s hottest ZIP codes in 2026 are in those two regions, according to Realtor.com’s annual report.

The rankings attempt to measure where buyer interest is strongest using two factors: the number of unique viewers each property receives on Realtor.com and the typical number of days listings remain on the market.

Listings in this year’s top 10 ZIPs attracted three to five times as many views per property as the U.S. average and spent 30 to 42 fewer days on the market in the first half of the year, the organization said.

The report described all 10 as falling within “desirable suburban corridors,” where buyers can take advantage of slower-paced living without giving up access to an economic hub.

But demand is only part of the equation. Tight supply is also helping fuel the competition.

Inventory in the hottest ZIP codes was about 60 percent below pre-pandemic norms, compared with an 11 percent shortfall nationwide.

The South and West were absent from the list for the fourth consecutive year, partly because new construction has increased supply and cooled competition in those regions.
