Who qualifies for the Trump administration’s $90 payments for seniors?

(NEXSTAR) – President Trump has announced another round of checks will be sent out to Americans, this time for those on Medicare.

Last month, the White House started sending out $500 refund checks to roughly 1 million Americans who were reportedly overcharged for their ObamaCare insurance.

Just as those payments started arriving, Trump on Friday said his administration would pay out about $2 billion in checks for 20.8 million seniors.

These payments, funded by the Medicare Improvement Fund, are arriving as one-time deposits or checks. Previous administrations have not used the Medicare Improvement Fund in this way, although Congress has periodically taken out money from the fund to pay for other priorities, said Larry Levitt, KFF’s executive vice president for health policy. For example, $20.74 billion was used for the creation of the Affordable Care Act in 2010.

“We are finally using this Fund, along with my Most Favored Nations Deals, to substantially LOWER costs for our Seniors,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

Here’s what to know about the payments:

Roughly 20.8 million people are expected to receive a rebate.

To qualify, you need to be enrolled in Medicare Part B and live within the U.S., according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid........
